A “lifecare community” is considered to be the most important retirement product available in today’s long term care environment. A group of Berkshire residents was interested in bringing a lifecare concept to the area and incorporated as the Berkshire Retirement Community (BRC) in Lenox. Lenox is a small New England town, in the beautiful and culturally rich Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. BRC knew it would need “experience” to develop the complex; Berkshire turned to BBL.
52 spacious, independent apartment suites were developed on two levels, along with a skilled nursing facility. Each suite contains a bedroom, living/dining room, full kitchen, pantry, closets, outdoor patios on the first floor apartments, and balconies on the second level. The residents enjoy a multitude of specially created amenities: art studio; gazebo; a parlor with a fireplace; and a large dining room where gourmet meals are served daily.
The skilled facility, Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center, completes the true continuum of care offered by the Kimball Farms Lifecare Community. The Care Center offers a full rehabilitation program including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, along with on-site beauty salon and laundry service.
The site’s wooded 63 acres was once a horse farm and riding stable in the early 1900's; many of the riding trails were preserved and developed as walking trails and are extensively used by the residents. Because of BBL’s experience developing assisted living and skilled facilities, the company was able to deliver the building program for a “guaranteed” cost and delivery date.
